| Are
you already a member? Then
you will find a full support system in
your Account Manager and a Support Database
in your Website Control centre. If not,
then read on for some our most frequently
asked questions...
So how does it work?
DidItMyself.net has
a fully integrated web hosting and domain
name platform, so wherever we can, we
have handed control of all the services
we offer over to you. This means that
you can make most of the changes you need
or add new services in real time in our
simple to use Website Control area. That's
not to say that you have to maintain your
own website. All are accounts are as feature-packed
and as powerful - if not more - than any
one of our peer-sites, so should you choose
to hand over your design or maintenance
to a Web Designer or Webmaster, they can
take your site to as advanced a level
as you desire.
There
are 3 easy steps to registering for your
DidItMyself.net account. Firstly you choose
your domain name, whether it
be brand new or transferring it in. Secondly,
you choose one of our 3 simple
website packages, choosing to
pay either monthly or yearly. Lastly,
you make payment, either
by Paypal - the internet's most acclaimed
secure payment system - or by invoice
to our secure postal address.
On
registering you will receive details via
email. As a security measure these details
are spread over two emails; the first
you will receive instantly and includes
details of your account and the facilities
available to you as a member. The second,
which is sent to you as soon as soon as
your domain is added for registration
on our system, and includes details of
your domain, and the temporary URL we
supply you with until your domain name
becomes 'live', which is within 72 hours....
and away you go! Your Website Control
area features all the resources and software
you need, alongside your Web Builder,
to begin creation of your website. Your
Account Manager gives full details of
products bought and your personal account
details (we do not store sensitive information
anywhere on our system), and your final
bit of kit, the Domain Manager, is for
the rare occasion on which you may need
to change the details of your domain name.
How long will it take for my web hosting
account to be setup?
All accounts are activated in real time,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We send
your welcome email (the first of two,
for increased security) within moments
of your account being registered, which
includes all the details you require to
login to your Account Manager, and a second
shortly after with details for logging
into both your Domain Manager and Website
Control areas. These emails also include
details for setting up your email, accessing
webmail online, Frontpage, and FTP access
to your webspace.
How long will it take
for my new domain name to become active?
Domains are registered as soon as you
order them. However, it can take between
24 and 72 hours for them to become visible
on the Internet. We supply you with a
temporary URL (web address) to use until
your domain name becomes active, and as
soon as your register a 'holding page'
will appear at this address, and until
you create or upload your website. If
you are transferring a domain name, you
may need to contact your previous host/domain
company to 'release' the domain to us,
but this is rarely necessary.
How can I pay for my web
hosting account or domain name?
For web hosting accounts our preferred
payment method is by PayPal, the internet's
most powerful online payment service.
This is a secure method of payment, and
it is free and easy to use. For more details
go here.
We also accept cheques and postal/money
orders paid by invoice. In these circumstances,
once you complete our checkout procedure
you will receive an online invoice for
you to print out. We require a copy of
this and your payment, sent to the address
given on the invoice, within 7 working
days. If you are registering a new domain
name, this will not be registered until
your payment has cleared.
Can I have a free trial
of a web hosting account?
We don't allow 'free trials' as such,
as we consider our prices to be low and
flexible enough to make registering for
any account worthwhile. If you are not
happy with your account, however, we will
happily give you a refund within the first
30 days. We regret that we cannot refund
charges relating to domain name registration
or transfer. You can also cancel an account
at anytime, although we cannot refund
accounts pro-rata.
How can your offer 'unlimited'
webspace and bandwidth?
You may have read online that 'unlimited'
is merely a way of advertising a web hosting
product, or that it is a con, and that
this is an impossible promise to live
up to. However, we are in a position that
our servers and network are constantly
updated to cope with any demand our 'unlimited'
account holders may demand. The only real
restriction we put on any of our accounts
is that we do not support fully 'streaming'
media such as audio and video.
Do I get an invoice?
Yes, every time you buy a product from
us we will email you an invoice. Details
of each account and item is also listed
in your Account Manager.
Are there any restriction
on the types of website you allow?
Yes, we do not host any adult or warez
websites, websites manufacturing internet
'spam' or unsolicited junk mail, or websites
distributing copyrighted material such
as music and videos, unless you have been
licensed by the relevant party to do so.
I'm having trouble with
some technical terms. What do things like
'bandwidth' and 'FTP' mean?
There are lots of terms you may not have
come across before. You can view
our Glossary of Useful Terms here.
I'm a novice at all this!
What type of support do you offer?
We have tried to supply you with every
kind of support that we think will be
of benefit to you. Our detailed online
Knowledge Base contains answers to the
most frequently asked questions. We update
the database on a regular basis to ensure
you get the most up to date information,
and all clients are welcome to submit
their own questions, which we will be
happy to answer, and we are always just
a click away via our support contact form
in your Account Manager. We also feature
an online Discussion Forum for all clients,
where you can discuss ideas or swap tips
with other clients, and where we offer
regularly updated tutorials that we think
may be of some real use to you.
If
you haven't found the answer you were
looking for here please don't hesitate
to contact
